Having finally found your favorite podcast, how do you decide which player is the best to use to listen to it? There are many different players, both hardware and software that claim to be the best source to let you listen to podcasting, but with so many on the market, it can be a rough decision to figure out which fits your lifestyle the best. Essentially, if you want to have your podcasts wherever you go, you will have to pick up two different players: one should be software based for your computer and another should be hardware based and small enough that you can carry it around with you on a day to day basis.

As far as software options go to let you to listen to podcasting, there are two different choices. The first is Apple’s signature brand of software called iTunes while the other is called Winamp. Winamp, on the whole, is an excellent music and video player with enough options and tweaks to make even the most obsessive audiophile wholly content. It really provides tons more options and customizable features than iTunes, including a variety of skins to change the appearance of the program and sound manipulation add-ons to project the podcasts in their highest possible quality. On the other hand, what iTunes lacks in tweaks, it more than makes up for in podcast quantity. When you listen to podcasting on iTunes, it stores all of your downloaded podcasts in one easy to view folder where you can manage your favorite podcasts with the touch of a button. Furthermore, you can retrieve more podcasts from iTunes whenever you desire, as it is a veritable database for a huge variety of all things podcast.

When you are on the road and you want to listen to podcasting, there is really no choice than to buy an iPod. After all, the iPod was what originated the whole podcasting scene, and even after several years, it still remains the best option for to listen to podcasting on the go. You can purchase one in a variety of different hard drive sizes and Apple makes a version or color scheme to fit anyone’s taste, making it an incredibly versatile way to listen to podcasting wherever you are.
